Amazing heartbreaking record, hardly ever comes up for auction (i've only ever seen it on ebay twice in the past 5 years), NM-.

Very rare private real people driving progressive melancholic rock. This album is dedicated to the bands singer Bob Edwards, who sadly died in 1972 only 21 years old.  Side A is Lo Fi studio and live recordings from 1971-72, never intended to be released, but found here as they were the only recordings with Bob. On side B the band, with Bob’s brother Bruce on vocal, express their feelings about their loss and their miss. These are recorded late 72 and early 73.

This albums really gets to your heart, at least it did to me. The contrast from the energy and the joy in the loose driving progressive rock on the original recording with Bob, and the sad melancholy in the later really makes you sit wondering about life and death. Someone said “music is feelings” and as such this is probably one of the strongest record I have ever heard, ‘cos very few records have ever touched me as this one. Listen to lyrics like

And I am still playing in the band.

Please don’t let me cry.

I am so glad to be alive.

Will I be ready when I die.”

This is as real as it gets, it’s so damn deep and honest. I guess listening to this record will make you drop a tear unless you are made of stone. Musically it’s good, but knowing the background history, it becomes a monster.

"Ginger With Bob Edwards" 1973 (Cheap Swank no #)  [no cover; 2 inserts; 100p]  

Obscure Minneapolis album released as a posthumous tribute to vocalist Bob Edwards, who is featured on side 1 of the LP, which is live recorded 1970-71 barrock with westcoast moves and Hammond upfront, a bit like side 1 on Soup or a lo-fi Short Cross/Sweet Toothe. Side 2 is more interesting and features 1972-73 studio recordings of the band without Edwards and is a more esoteric rural rock/singer songwriter trip with a Band/Hickory Wind vibe. Main attraction is an unexpected acid sound collage straight out of 1967. The record was not issued with a cover. Some covers were made up recently by a dealer, utilizing the inserts and a concert flyer for the design.[PL]

Except for tragedy, we would never have had this most essential human real people experience. Lead singer tragically dies in a car wreck and group reforms with his twin brother on vocals/lyrics. Side one is crude bar band rock recorded live, never intended for release. The magic is on side two with unbelievable emotion and tortured lyrics. "He'll Talk To You" says that if you don't think of him he will talk to you, and on "The Early Morning Rehash," he does! That song is a truly strange and eerie psych masterpiece.
