Description
RCA Victor four-record set No. P-148 is "An Album of Outstanding Arrangements" by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra. Listen carefully, though, because it has only three of its original records - the fourth is a substitution, but also by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra. So let's start with the three consecutively numbered 10-inch 78's that are original to the album:
RCA Victor # 20-1565 -- "Tuxedo Junction" and "In the Mood."
RCA Victor # 20-1566 -- "Little Brown Jug" and "Moonlight Serenade."
RCA Victor # 20-1567 -- "Star Dust" and "Pennsylvania Six Five Thousand."
As a footnote here, the one that is missing is RCA Victor # 20-1564 -- "American Patrol" and "Song of the Volga Boatmen." It has been replaced with:
RCA Victor # 27873 -- "American Patrol" and "Soldier, Let Me Read Your Letter" (vocal on the latter by Ray Eberle and the Modernaires).
All are instrumental apart from the last one.
The records all look to be in about VG+ or better condition, still beautifully shiny and with hardly any visible surface wear. I've played them all on my Audio-Technica turntable, and there are no skips or jumps, and mostly only typical light background noise, with some occasional pops or clicks or light ticking. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering devices and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment. Please also check the pictures for label damage, stickers or inscriptions.
The album itself is in solid and functional condition, with the pocket seams intact, but a large amount of handwritten inscriptions on the inside front cover. Otherwise, just typical light surface rubbing and edge wear on the cover.
