Machined first press matrices. Include the original polylined swirly inner sleeve with correct date print (0470). This is the original very highly collectible 1st UK swirl Vertigo issue, which is in the top ten rarest issues on the label and barely ever comes up for auction these days. On top of all that the music is stunning top drawer symphonic progressive rock which strangely enough did not sell anything near what e.g. Yes or King Crimson did.

THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE FIRST ISSUE MATT  TEXTURED GATEFOLD SLEEVE. THE ORIGINAL SWIRL INNER SLEEVE IS STILL PRESENT.

I have played this in FULL> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! There are not any jumps or skips.  Justa few clicks here and there but very low level and not disturbing. Very remarkable for this 1970 vinyl!!!  The heavy vinyl with high groovewalls provide a fantastic audio experience with channelling not equalled by the later re-issue. I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!! A beautiful CLASSIC with supreme songcraft, a joy to listen to!!!!

****ELUSIVE PROGMONSTER!!!****PERPLEXING SONGCRAFT!!!***AN INSPIRATION TO MANY SUBSEQUENT TOPACTS!!!***

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!! This is hardly offered these days as an original first press!!

 Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. Only a few low level clicks, hardly ever any background noise despite two very shallow scuffs, this is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl .The audio is impeccable. Inspected under an intense light source and angled.

Vinyl: VG++ .  A sensational find!!! This is so very rare, just a few hundred copies were ever sold. I have played this in FULL twice over> The replay is GREAT!!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation on my very revealing Technics/Linn Sondek/ Rotel/ B&W system. A couple of very shallow scuff marks can be seen but the great news is that these do not at all have any effect on the playback quality which is superb. Some wispy hairlines are visible under a strong light but again these are not at all audible. Fantastic songcraft!! A personal favourite of mine and I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection.  Outstanding audio delivery in all respects with a crystal clear, deep, rich, warm and detailed sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always an immense pleasure to return to this one) there is barely any surface noise, I heard only two small clicks on side 1. This is a beautifully clean pressing (and I must emphasise again how difficult it is to find a copy which plays this well). One tiny white stain near the run-in which has no audible effect at all safe from a couple of low level clicks. The whole LP sounds absolutely great and plays to a high standard with superb clarity, no groove-wear and no distortion and is very strictly graded a strong VG++  for audio without anything untoward, hardly any static - great copy!! Of course, NO skips, NO jumps.

Gatefold Sleeve: EX.  A beautiful textured matt gatefold sleeve which does have light storage wear as is evident on the top and bottom edges. The spine is 100% legible, very remarkable for this LP. Light yellowing is present as seen on the pictures but there is no damage at all!! NO sticker tears , NO writing, NO splits on the seams and NO creases!! There is no writing or smudging and all in all a great presentable well above average sleeve. This is an album that is rarely seen these days. The very last time I have come across this was on a record fair at least fifteen years ago. I wonder if I will ever come across another copy now ...

Labels: EX+!!! Unmarked, these are the very desirable swirly labels.  None scarcer though than this label!! I doubt we will see this again this year or the next! This vinyl has indeed barely been played. Please take a close look at the pictures!!
