Grant Green was the house guitarist for Blue Note during the first half of the 1960s. Green, whose hornlike solos were always infectious, was so versatile that he could play bop, swing, hard bop, post bop that bordered on the avant-garde and grooving soul jazz. Talkin' About, from 1964, has Green as the lead voice in a trio with the innovative organist Larry Young and Elvin Jones. Young was growing rapidly away from his original Jimmy Smith influence and he challenges Green throughout a colorful set that includes their unique version of "I'm An Old Cowhand."
