What else needs to be said? This is one of the pivotal albums in the history of the West Coast and Psychedelic 1960's. Although technically recorded in 1972, this is a prime-time slab of vintage psychedelia, replete with 'magma' light show and related sound- and visual effects. The triple album - unavailable in its original vinyl form for decades - is one of the critical pieces in understanding the role Billy Grahan and Fillmore East played in the development of the contemporary American music. The set includes the cream of the crop of the great American Bands, unleashing their rapid fire in the soon-to-be-closed Fillmore auditorium. Miss it now, and weep later. (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.  (about half of the six sides are near mint, while the remaining sides vary betweenVG+ and VG+++)

(b)          The album comes with ALL original extras (the booklet; the poster; the bonus 45 rpm EP and the Buffalo Springfield concert stub, ALL IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION) [NOTE: the concert stub featured different group performance from one copy of this set to another: thus far, we have seen concert stubs for Moby Grape, Buffalo Springfield, Jethro Tull/Fairport Convention and Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company/Pink Floyd; I am sure there are many other variations]

(c)           The thickness of the vinyl varies from one record to another, between 5 and 6 on a 10-point scale

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(e)           THE BONUS 45 DISC IS NEAR MINT

·       COVER ( ¾ inch thick cardboard box)

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        The lid (top part) has three corners on the left side (spine) split / separated (this can be easily repaired, but we did not attempt to)

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3

-         The cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant)

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the front side  (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No wrinkles or creases

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
