SINN SISAMOUTH – Groove Club, Vol. 4. Lion Productions LION LP-180. NEW UNPLAYED VINYL RECORD LP. This 13-track compilation issued in 2020. The golden king of Cambodian popular music. First official appearance of these recordings since their initial release as singles. Comes with an 8-page full color booklet with info and photos supplied by Sisamouth’s surviving family. Comes in a clear open-ended 100% recycled poly outer sleeve with attached hype sitcker, as shipped by the label. The sleeved disc will be placed outside of the jacket for shipping. All tracks performed by Sisamouth except where noted.

DESCRIPTION:

Cambodian garage psych music from the late '60s and early 70’s, is some of the strangest music you will ever hear:  amazing garage psych excursions with brilliant farfisa keyboards and wah wah fuzz guitar topped off with fascinating Cambodian vocals — all heavily influenced by American and British music of the era. Primal versions of rock 'n' roll, surf, and R'n’B — sometimes all in one song! Sinn Sisamouth’s artistic accomplishments are staggeringly vast. As a songwriter, crooner, and later a rock and roller, he always had his finger on the pulse of the latest new grooves from around the world. Perhaps his greatest feat was melding so many varied influences into something that became uniquely and purely Cambodian. He’ll forever be revered as the untouchable, golden King of Cambodian popular music. As amazing as the new sounds of this fusion transformed modern Cambodian popular music, alas, in 1975 came an entirely different type of transformation:  the rise to power in Cambodia of the fanatical, anti-Western, Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot. Within roughly four years, Pot and his regime were responsible for the deaths of an estimated two million Cambodians (roughly 21% of the nation’s population), many in the notorious “killing fields.” Even the most famous and beloved Khmer musicians could not escape. Sinn Sisamouth, the “King of Khmer music”; Ros Sereysothea, the “Golden Voice of the Royal Capital”; and Pan Ron — all featured on this collection of songs written by the majestic Sinn Sisamouth — met their deaths at the hands of the Khmer Rouge.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

MIX:  This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.

U.S. Shipping: 

$4.90 via USPS Media Mail for the first single LP or double disc LP set (excluding box sets); this also includes tracking. Check your eBay Purchases folder for tracking and shipping information.

$1.25 for each additional single LP set and/or

$1.50 for each additional double LP set.

All US packages are processed for shipping via eBay and include a tracking number. Check your purchases folder to monitor your tracking.
