Gwen & Ray Build Your House On A Strong Foundation b/w If It Makes You Feel Good Bee Bee Records 7" single No. 223
I anticipate a lot of questions about this one, so I'm going to make this statement up front: We had a few unplayed copies of this scarce Northern soul single a while back that we acquired in the estate of local DJ (deceased) who had been active in the 60's and 70's. We sold those copies to various high bidders on ebay who all vouched for their autheniticity once they received them. Well, we have gotten to the end of the collection we acquired from the estate and have discovered the last two copies from this source. I am auctioning one of these two copies in the present auction. The last copy we may wind up keeping for the store or offering to the next highest bidder in a second chance offer.The single comes with a plain white paper sleeve with light aging. A new clear 7" poly bag will be included for added protection. The vinyl appears all but unplayed (I did play grade it) with just a few faint surface sleeve scuffs. Plays beautifully with only an occasional faint ambient tic - what you would normally expect from 45 rpm 7" vinyl. The dead wax from the last grooves to the label is about one quarter inch. BB223A b/w BB223B stamp/scratched in the dead wax. No reserve and a low starting bid!
The last copy we have in reserve is in slightly less great condition. But still is in excellent shape. It has a few more noticeable surface scuffs, but also plays through beutifully. The sound quality is only marginally less excellent than the one in auction. Again, this reserve copy will be offered (perhaps - the boss hasn't decided yet) to the second highest bidder in the present auction. Once these two are gone, I doubt we'll see this single show up again!
