What a pleasure to hear Bill Evans in his youth!  Great flair and attack, though not the romanticism he later presented.    Russell's original, "Concerto for Billy the Kid", was an early draft of what became "All About Rosie".  Russell said he attempted "to supply a frame to match the vigor and vitality in the playing of Pianist Bill Evans."  Russell was best known as a composer and theorist, influencing later modal experiments such as Miles' "Kinda Blue" recording.  This record includes Russell's best known composition, "Ezz-thetic".  The record receives five stars with a bullet in the All-Music Guide to Jazz and is the first item in the "selective list" of recorded compositions in the entry for George Russell in The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz.  
This record is important in the history of modern jazz and also is in unusually good condition for a 60 year old LP.  
The vinyl has good gloss, looks close to new.  It plays better than many new records, it's a good pressing.  There is an audible tick on Side 1, cut 4.  It lasts for three revolutions, about four seconds.  It may be a pressing issue.  Otherwise this would play NM.  It is rated strong VG+.  There is one slight spindle mark on each label.  
The cover has some toning on the back and slight chipping on the front along the opening lip.  See the photos.  There is a tiny mark on the front to the left of Russell's fist on his lapel.  There are adhesive marks inside the cover along the opening.  A prior owner protected the cover by taping plastic around it.  Unobtrusive.  Thus, the cover has no ringwear.  Seams and corners are intact with a slight bump on the bottom corner at the opening.  See the photo.  Otherwise, no writing, tape, or stickers.  No clipped corner, notch, or cutout hole.  Records are play-graded, but when visual grading is different from the sound, the record is marked at the lower grade.

The following Goldmine descriptions were used for grading:

·        NM (Near Mint) ---- A nearly perfect record.  The disc looks as if you just got it home from a new record store.  Many brand new discs do not meet this standard.  The jacket should show no obvious signs of wear with no creases, folds, seam splits or cut-out holes.

·        VG+ (Very Good Plus) ---- A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.  Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear such as slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect the listening experience.  The label may have some ring wear or discoloration but it would be barely noticeable.  The jacket may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or corner indicating it was sold at a discount. 

·        VG (Very Good) ---- Surface noise will be evident, especially in soft passages, but will not overpower the music.  Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches that will affect the sound.  Labels and the jacket may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers attached.  Ring wear, scuffing, or seam splitting may be present on the jacket.  Many of the defects in a VG+ jacket will be more pronounced in a VG one.  The jacket will not have all of these problems at the same time.

·        G (Good) ---- Good does not mean Bad!  A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put on a turntable and will play through without skipping or sticking.  But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear.  A jacket will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine.  Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
