Debut album from Gnidrolog. Recorded at De Lane Lea Studios in 1972 and released that year. (Yes I pinched that from the Internet)

A real Prog Rock classic with complex arrangements and a wide range of instrumentation.  No synthesizers for which we should all be grateful. Boy do they age badly. I understand that this album has been reissued on 180 gram vinyl, as a CD with “Extras” and with their second LP as a single CD. You’re spoilt for choice. For someone wanting the original article... This is it.

Can’t say I’ve heard much of the Goldrings since though there is a Colin Goldring “Singer /Songwriter” over in Swansea.

Nigel Pegrum fetched up in Steeleye Span after this. That's it for the blurb.

CONDITION.

Sleeve

The sleeve is in excellent condition*.  There are light marks from shelf storage.

No biro, sticky tape. Quite something considering that this is a highty textured sleeve with no lamination for protection. Looking carefully I don't think there was any printing on the spine.

I’ve added photographs of the front and back in this listing.

There is a plain inner sleeve.

Vinyl

The record is in excellent condition*.  Once the run in ends it’s away with a great sound.

(This album recorded on my Linn Sondek turntable using “Audacity”, exported as a 320  kbps MP3 file and uploaded into eCommerce Player. No editing whatsoever just a pause as I turned the disc over. It's all there from the moment the stylus touches down, finds the groove, plays the side and runs off)

The Matrix numbers were hard to read even with a decent magnifying glass. Odd that the numbers don’t quite match those printed on the label.

Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
