GRAPEFRUIT - 'THIS LITTLE MAN'

1968/9 UK EMIDISC 7" ACETATE

**UNRELEASED ALTERNATE VERSION**

It is well known that John Lennon was a big fan of Grapefruit and the group became one of the first signings to 'Apple Publishing'. Although they never released a record on Apple, they did cut some acetates for Apple for reference/publishing purposes.

This particular track is an unreleased early version of the track 'This Little Man' which appeared on their 1st LP 'Around Grapefruit' in 1969.

The performance and arrangment on this acetate is in stark contrast to the released version; it is a straight, undubbed full band performance stripped of Terry Melcher's cluttered arrangement and allows the true quality of the song to shine through. The version presented here lasts 2 mins 51s, slightly longer than the released version which runs only to 2 mins 25s

A unique opportunity to hear the song as George Alexander and Grapefruit originally intended.

The disc itself is a 1-sided, 7" EMIDISC metal acetate.

It bears a handwritten label with the lead singer's name & song title; 'G. Alexander' 'this little man', together with 'Apple Music' in green ink.

CONDITION

Label: NEAR MINT

Visual: VERY GOOD

The playing surface bears some minor surface marks but no scratches or any cracked/missing laquer.
100% flat on the turntable.

Audio: EXCELLENT

An excellent quality recording and the sound is clean, clear & undistorted throughout without any clicks or other major faults.
Apart some some minor surface noise on the run-in, there is no significant or major audible wear.

N.B. I have played this disc only once and have made no attempt to clean it.
