"Grupo De Experimentación Sonora Del ICAIC is a milestone
in the history of Cuban music. It emerged in 1968, under the
auspices of Alfredo Guevara, under the direction of Leo Brouwer
and developed his work for nearly ten years.
It was composed of troubadours and musicians in
general, interested in studying and developing new
ways for Cuban popular music and song. Around the
GES is a valuable list of creators such as Silvio
Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Noel Nicola, Sergio Vitier,
Emiliano Salvador, Eduardo Ramos, Sara González,
Pablo Menéndez, Carlos Avaroff, Armando Guerra,
Leoginaldo Pimentel and Norberto Carrillo, among others. .
The GES promoted the technical approach to music and
the experience of collective creative work that covered the
most diverse forms: from the structure of a concert to music for cinema.
The work developed in the context of the GES contributed
to the renewal of Cuban music and had individual and social
implications, since he was the formator of a group of then young
musical creators who today are part of the avant-garde and have
demonstrated their quality in all the world."
