Beethoven: Symphony No. 7 in A major
(HMV ASD 254 UK LP 1958)
This is a 1958 UK Stereo 1st pressing LP in very nice overall condition! It has a fully laminated sleeve which has a gold circular EMI "Stereophonic" sticker on the front. There is a flipback at the top & bottom of the rear sleeve. This has a die-cut rounded centre area. The sleeve has a thin spine which has a factory "pinched" top & bottom spine. It has its original polythene-lined generic "Emitex" company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has white & gold "HMV" labels. The labels are deep grooved also. The labels have a company "XT" tax code embossed around the spindle hole on Side 1's label. The record has 1st press 2YEA 9-6 and 2YEA 10-4 matrix numbers. The mother stampers are R 1 and A 1 respectively.
This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of this rare late 1950's UK Stereo Classical LP. In very nice overall condition too. This is the very earliest UK pressing which has a fully laminated sleeve & has grooved "HMV" labels. As stated, this is quite a rare UK LP. Sleeve: There is some mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not too noticeable. There is a 1 cm hairline crease at the spine. This has caused an extremely minor tear/ bit of rubbing wear to the spine face. This doesn't notice that much. Otherwise, the spine is in very nice overall condition. The spine text is completely legible. There is a very tiny crease at three corner tip areas. There is some light or very mild fading to the "white" of the sleeve to a varying degree. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. Overall, Very Good++ condition. These early UK HMV Stereo sleeves are quite flimsy and are extremely prone to wear. Overall, this is a very reasonable copy.
Vinyl: There is an extremely feint 5 cm surface sleeve rub mark on Side 1. This can barely be seen under a strong light. There are some light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs can hardly be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, NEAR EXCELLENT condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have play tested this LP in its entirety. Side 1: Plays Very Good+ overall & Near Excellent in some places. There is light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in the background to a varying degree. It never overpowers the music. The crackle starts to ease out about halfway through Side 1. Sometime the crackle, more or less, eases completely out. Side 2: Plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in the background to a varying degree. It never overpowers the music. There are a very few areas of more moderate crackle. These do not last too long. There are a couple of mild clicks a quarter of the way through Side 2.
The audio quality of this LP would be vastly improved by a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Visually the disc looks in Near Excellent condition. Therefore, any crackle is just due to microscopic deep down dirt in the grooves. This has occurred from decades of storage. It would play, I believe, Excellent to Excellent+, and possibly better after a professional clean. It would remove any crackle or clicks.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this.
NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.
EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...
NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing,ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.
Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

The dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment. I always remove the inner/ LP from the sleeve & place them, with the sleeve, in a polythene outer sleeve. This will prevent seam splits to the sleeve during the shipping process. I often remove the vinyl from the original inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your records.
