Background on this eBay item -
François Couperin (10 November 1668 – 11 September 1733) was a French Baroque composer, organist and harpsichordist. He was known as Couperin le Grand ("Couperin the Great") to distinguish him from other members of the musically talented Couperin family.Kenneth Gilbert (born Montreal, 16 Dec 1931). Canadian harpsichordist. He studied in Montreal and Paris, as organist and harpsichordist, and held a post as organist in Montreal, 1955-67; he has taught in Canada and the Low Countries. He is chiefly admired as a harpsichordist, for his elegance and precision in Couperin and his brilliance and vitality in D. Scarlatti. He has edited the harpsichord music of both composers.
Gilbert was trained at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal where he was a pupil of Yvonne Hubert (piano) and Gabriel Cusson (harmony and counterpoint). He also studied the organ privately with Conrad Letendre in Montréal. In 1953 he won the Prix d'Europe for organ performance, an award which enabled him to pursue studies in Paris, France with Nadia Boulanger (composition), Maurice Duruflé (organ), Ruggero Gerlin (harpsichord), Gaston Litaize (organ), and Sylvie Spicket (harpsichord) from 1953-1955. He later studied the harpsichord privately with Wanda Landowska.
Gilbert performed for the Peabody Mason Concert series in 1974. In 1986, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. In 1988, he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He was the teacher of harpsichordist John Whitelaw.

The Box containing the LPs is in Near Mint minus condition.

The Box is solid and intact, with NO SPLITS! The two front corners (on the right front side) have small splits but are intact and strong. There is some minor shelf wear evident, primarily with respect to the seams and corners.

A near mint multi-page libretto / booklet comes with this issue, making this set complete.

It has NO drill holes or saw marks of any kind on the jacket.

There is NO hand writing on the front or back of the jacket.

The LPs are in near MINT minus condition! - in great condition and obviously well taken care of!!

They retain much of the original gloss and sheen!

The records have no serious marks that we could see - we could not see anything that resembled a mark, even under strong white light. We play tested parts of the 4 LPs and they sounded fantastic, as beautiful french pressings made by Harmonia Mundi always seem to sound!

There are NO significant spindle marks on the record labels that we could see!

This is the near mint copy you have always wanted in your collection - any picky audiophile should be happy with this one! A better copy would be very difficult to locate!

This LP set may have a slight mark or two (spider marks) which are caused by sliding the LP in and out of the inner sleeve and are usually not audible on most audio systems (this is of course dependent on the sensitivity of your cartridge/arm combination - spider marks may sound on some systems, not on others - but this is a VERY CLEAN set) - as for any record, we recommend a cleaning before playing!

- Mint = Only used for sealed items.
- Near Mint = Virtually flawless in every way.
- Near Mint Minus = Item has some minor imperfections, some audible.
- Excellent = Item obviously played and enjoyed with some noise.
- Very Good Plus = Many more imperfections which are noticeable and obtrusive.
