HARRY PARTCH "The Bewitched" on Gate 5 records. From the liner notes:
"Commisioned by the Fromm Foundation and the University of Illinois School of
Music. Performed at this university, and for Washington University, St. Louis, in
1957, with the Alwyn Nikolias Dance Company. Performed for Columbia University,
New York and at the University of Illinois, in 1959, with a dance company organized
by Joyce Trisler." Includes a booklet but that has a date of 1962. year of release?
Either way, this record is very rare!! The LP cover is in VG++ to Near Mint condition!
No seam splits, no shelf wear, and no ring wear at all. The record is in VG++ condition!
Very nice! I compared the writing of the address scribbled on the back cover to a Harry
Partch autograph, and I am fairly certain, but not positive, that Mr. Partch wrote this.
Side 1
1) Prologue- The Lost Musicians Mix Magic
2) Scene 3- The Romancing Of A Pathological Liar Comes To An Inspired End
Side 2
1) Scene 4- A Soul Tormented By Contemporary Music Finds A Humanizing Alchemy
2) Scene 8- A Court In Its Own Contempt Rises To A Motherly Apotheosis
3) The Cognoscenti Are Plunged Into A Demonic Descent While At Cocktails
4) Epilogue
According to the Lp liner notes Scene 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and 9 although performed had to be
ommited from the album due to time constraints. Wow! should of made a DOUBLE album!
I grade NM, VG++, VG+, VG, VG-
