Quick (Eric Carmen)-Ain't Nothing Gonna Stop Me/Southern Comfort (Epic 10516) VG++ extremely hard to find yellow stock copies of this disc since most are DJ copies!
Phenomenal 1969 Cleveland OH mod power pop featuring Eric Carmen during his pre-Raspberries tenure. The A-side sounds virtually identical both with the production-value and song-writing to the Small Faces "Odgens Nut Gone Flake" era and even has their patented cool "Itchycoo Park" phasing. This song is unquestionably one of the best American UK popsych ripoffs since EC was undoubtedly an Anglophile at heart (despite his AOR "All My Love" schlocky solo hit crud from the '70-80s). Flip ain't shabby either and is a good solid rocker with Carmen's typical unleashed "Marriott-esque" vocals and slashing guitar playing.
Absolute bonefide killer 2-sided disc so listen to the sound sample below if you're unfamiliar with this slab of musical genius. Not an easy score and a single that's now in big demand. Oh, I heard thru the grapevine that "Aint' Nothing" plus the A-side of his Cyrus Eire 45 "Get The Message" (also released the same year on Epic and is another MUST HAVE mod obscurity) will soon be coming out on a reish 45 ... so don't miss out before the word gets out.
