GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : un album bello e interessante diviso in due sezioni. Temi strumentali nel primo lato, canzoni nel secondo. Il tutto per opera di Henri Salvador in qualità di compositore, cantante e chitarrista. Insieme a lui ci sono pochi ma buoni musicisti Francesi (il disco fu registrato a Parigi anche se edito unicamente in Canada) vale a dire un contrabbassista, un tastierista e un batterista probabilmente Moustache pseudonimo di François-Alexandre Galepides. Inoltre viene impiegata un'orchestra ma solo in pochi brani del disco. I testi delle canzoni oltre dello stesso Salvador sono di Bernard Michel (a3 e b3) e di Moustache (a2, b4). Non posso dire che questo disco comprende musica jazz ma è innegabile che le origini artistiche e l'amore del compositore e cantante verso questo genere di musica entrano sottilmente o anche evidentemente nelle varie tracce del disco. Si avverte tutto questo nei tre brani in cui Salvador vocalizza senza parole di significato compiuto nello stile del canto scat, tipico del jazz (a3, b1, b5) e in maniera più che palese in "Explosion" (a5) dove chitarra acustica, contrabbasso e pianoforte danno vita a un vero e proprio tema jazz dalla ritmica sostenuta. Essendo il film stato girato in Sicilia sulle coste marine della bella Cefalù, la colonna sonora risente del suo fascino solare e i vari brani non assumono un carattere cupo o drammatico. Qualche traccia: "Thème du Bateau" (a1) dall'atmosfera rilassante creata dalla chitarra acustica con il pianoforte in sottofondo, "Vivre au Soleil" in ambedue le versioni (a3 e b3). La prima è caratterizzata dai vocalizzi del cantante accompagnato dalle tastiere e dalla chitarra, la seconda è invece cantata in Francese su una vivace ritmica con caratteristiche non distanti dalla musica Beat degli anni sessanta. Un'altra canzone, sempre in Francese, è "La Demongeot" (b2) dedicata alla bella attrice e moglie del regista del film, dove si può avvertire una certa impostazione jazz, "Cha Cha Céfalu" (b6) caratterizzata da una buona percussività e da un forte timbro vocale al ritmo della celebre danza, un po' fuori moda nell'anno 1971 ma per questo ancora più affascinante.

Notes : a beautiful and interesting album divided into two sections. Instrumental themes in the first side and songs in the second. All performed by Henri Salvador as composer, singer and guitarist. Alongside with him there are few but good French musicians - the album was recorded in Paris, even if only issued in Canada - namely a bass player, a keyboardist and a drummer, possibly Moustache pseudonym of François-Alexandre Galepides. In addition, an orchestra that is employed only in a few tracks on the album. The lyrics of the songs in addition to the same Salvador are by Bernard Michel (a3 and b3) and Moustache (a2, b4). I can't say this album includes jazz music but it is undeniable that the artistic origin and the love of the composer and singer for this kind of music subtly or also evidently enter in the various tracks of the LP. You hear all that in the three pieces wherein Salvador vocalizes in the style of scat singing, typical of jazz (a3, b1, b5) and clearly in "Explosion" (a5) where acoustic guitar, bass and piano give life to a real jazz piece from the lively rhythm. Since the film was shot in Sicily on the sea shores of the beautiful Cefalù, music is influenced by its radiant charm and the various tracks do not take gloomy or dramatic nature. Among the tracks: "Thème du Bateau" (a1) where the acoustic guitar with piano in the background arouses a relaxing atmosphere, "Vivre au Soleil" in both versions (a3 and b3). The first is characterized by the vocalizations of the singer accompanied by keyboards and guitar, the second is sung in French on a fast rhythm of nature not far from the Beat music of the 60s. Another song always in French is "La Demongeot" (b2) dedicated to the beautiful actress as well wife of the film's director, also here you can feel some jazz inclination, "Cha Cha Céfalu" (b6) is characterized by a good percussiveness and a strong vocal timbre to the rhythm of the famous dance, a little unfashionable in the year 1971 but for this even more fascinating.
