Description
Extraordinarily rare original pressing of Blue Note 1584, Here Comes Louis Smith
Featuring Louis Smith, Cannonball Adderley (under the alias "Buckshot La Funke" as he was still under contract to Mercury), Duke Jordan, Tommy Flanagan, Doug Watkins, and Art Taylor.
This is an original MONO pressing, with the 47 West 63rd address, deep groove, RVG and "ear" in the dead wax.
CONDITION:
Vinyl: I am going to grade the vinyl as a conservative VG(+). Vinyl is glossy and clean and in most places plays EXCELLENTLY with a very low level of surface noise. HOWEVER, there are a some very small but unfortunately audible imperfections throughout side 1 and the beginning of side 2. There are several short sections with repeating tics as well as a few isolated pops. I have not heard any skips in the several listens I have given this.
Due to the rarity of this piece and the flaws present, I have taken the time to record both sides in their entirety. Though these mp3s will in no way replicate the fidelity of the recording, they should serve to showcase the condition. Serious bidders please take the time to listen and determine if this is the copy for you.
Sleeve: Sleeve I will grade VG+. Glossy with strong seams. Hole punch through the top right corner. There is wear to all corners and the top right corner is starting to split into the top seam (about an inch). There is some general yellowing from aging, with the top seam showing some extra discoloration. Very small smudge of of what might be red paint or ink on the front toward the bottom left corner. Back cover has a faint rubber stamp with the initials "N.R." and 2 spots of darker discoloration. Most, if not all of these flaws should be visible in the photo. If you wish to see more detailed photos, please just ask.
Labels: Labels are extremely clean and free of wear, with only the faintest spindle trails visible under direct light.
As a final note on this piece, let me again ask that serious buyers PLEASE LISTEN TO THE SOUND SAMPLES. I will honor returns as normal, but as this is a very rare piece with some condition issues, I hope taking the time to record full sound samples will make the condition of the vinyl extremely clear.
Shipping
For domestic buyers, I offer a required $4 media mail option, but HIGHLY recommend opting for priority mail. Assuming this sells for a reasonably high price, I will have the package insured at my own expense.
International buyers for packages over $100 will be required to pay $30 for PRIORITY MAIL INTERNATIONAL. Items less that $100 will be shipped first class international for $15.
I offer a full refund to unsatisfied buyers, including the cost of return postage upon receiving the returned record.
I'm selling a few exciting jazz pieces at the moment. Please take the time to view my other auctions.
