Description

Scissors for Cutting Merzbow is one of three albums by Masami Akita (Merzbow) under the alias 'S.C.U.M.'. The album was released as a 2X12" vinyl set in a limited edition of 500 copies packaged in a heavy gatefold jacket. The title references the SCUM Manifesto, "Society for Cutting Up Men". Later, he made several albums of "SCUM" ("Scissors for Cutting Up Merzbow"/"Society for Cutting Up Merzbow"), for which he would cut up previous Merzbow albums until they resembled something new. Up for auction a near mint copy of S.C.U.M.- "Scissors for Cutting Merzbow" plus a mysterious ad/letter from Masami (see photos). On the front of that piece of paper is an ad for the album with all the credits and album info. On the back is what looks to be a copy of a letter from Masami to hs friend Waid. At the end of th letter is what appears to be Masami's genuine autograph. The photo isn't perfect, so here is how the letter reads:

Dear Waid,7/7/89Tokyo

I've been in New York on last month a week and really shocked. It was a job for new magazine 'Ecentric'. We(Me, Wife & Photographer)went to some unique places(Conny Island, Rosevelt Island, West End Meat Market etc) But most interested places were Nicholas Roerick Museum and Lower East Side. I met to Paul Lemos of Controlled Bleeding and He showed us some interesting places. One of the Bookstore. I bought Apocalipse Culture which you mentioned before. Next time, I hope to visit whole of America by private(and performances). At present, I working sound for Japanese Bondage Videos. Recently, I done short BGM for Woman Harakiri Performance.
