DAVE DIAMOND & HIGHER ELEVATION: The Diamond Mine/Crazy Bicycle (Chicory #CH-408 USA 1967) Dave Diamond was a Los Angeles DJ and on this awesome "The Diamond Mine" track is included on the "Pebbles vol.3" compilation... He was backed by the High Elevation from Greeley,Colorado (previously know as the Monocles)… "Diamond Mine" was actually a reworking of their killer cult last track from 1966 also on the "Chicory" label and called "The Spider And The Fly" … Dave was a great DJ who helped establish what is now known as "Underground Radio" … He hit the air at 9pm every night with a psychedelic mix of bizarre LP cuts and rap poetry… Dave name his show "The Diamond Mine" ,which became a magical tour of the many levels of music and mystery he presented every night… Dave Diamond was also active in the L.A. music scene at this time(1966-68)and is generally given credit for being one of the first Jocks in America to play the Doors,Love,the Seeds,the Id, Iron Butterfly,the Turtles,the Peanut Butter Conspiracy,Linda Rondstadt and Nancy Sinatra… The B-side "Crazy Bicycle" is an Higher Elevation composition and a great garagey/soul/fuzz tune and a real recommended for Mod DJ and a killer one for the Dancefloor…
