HOBO - Vadászat /Haunting/               Favorit SLPM 37862-3   /1984/

Review on RYM:

"The magnum opus of Hobo Blues Band, also one of the most important releases in the rock genre ever done in Hungary. In this double concept album Hobo uses the metaphor of hunting for presenting dependency of society groups. The work was written in the end of socialist era, the criticism on that political regime is unambiguous, but the concept itself is timeless: it can be transferred to any other historic period. Besides solid blues rock performance very strong references are made to classic Hungarian and American poetry, even extracts of poems are included. This work reached the “classic line up” of the band at their height since after Vadászat Deák Bill quit, thereafter the band lived a declining period.

The first disc is stronger and more diverse. After the prologue ‘Hajtók dala’ is an obvious classic slow blues, probably the most overplayed song of HBB ever. ‘A vadászok gyülekez?je’ kicks in the rocking sound, ‘Mesél az erd?’ puts in some funk, while ‘Fut a nyúl a mez?n’ is definitely a very solid rocker. The first side represents everything you should know about the band in 4 songs + the closing interlude. Side B is very much based on literature references (‘A vészbanyák dala’, ‘Ott fogsz majd sírni’), even the rework of an extract of C.M. Weber’s ‘Der Freischütz’ is included in the end in form of a brilliant man chorus with horns + electric guitar cooperation. Side B has also some rocking pieces deserving attention as well (‘A királyfi vágtat a réten’, ‘A fattyú reménytelen szerelme és halála’, ‘A szám?zött lovag’).

Side C is the most rocking presenting the torture of the shot animals. Musically and lyrically the less inspiring, musical themes are repeating each ther. Side D is more diverse again. Poetry prevails in a lot of items (‘A lakoma’, ‘Az orgia’). In the end the rocking tone moderates into a slow pace jazz-blues sound.

Even though the two volumes are far not equally strong, Vadászat  needs to be rated as ‘masterpiece’ since its unambiguous impact done on rock music and songwriting in Hungary."

The records are in EX- condition and the cover is VG.

NM : Near Mint.

Record = is as good as new and clear. May have some minor paper scuffs or tiny hairlines.   

Cover = as new with maybe the slightest signs of wear on corners, edges, spine or surface.

EX : Excellent.

Record =  Still very clear with a few hairlines and some small scuffs.

Cover = there is a bit wear on corners, edges and surface.

VG+ : Very Good+.               

Record =  clear but you can see some hairlines and/or some small scuffs across the surface.   

Cover = is still looking good but there is some wear,  on corners & edges,slight creasing. There is a bit ring-wear and a small green tag on the front-side. without any major defects, is acceptable.

VG : Very Good.

Record = There are lines, scuffs and/or swipes across the surface. 

Cover = there is real wear on corners, edges and spine. There are splits in the seams, serious ring-wear or surface-wear, small mark from a price sticker.

G : Good.

Record = when I put a record on Ebay with this grade then it well be a very rare one. In that case I will describe the imperfections on this record in detail.

Cover = this cover has been mended to keep it from falling apart. Look at the photo to have a better idea of the condition.
