Original UK Philips black label stereo issue LP.

The second HP Lovecraft album was recorded in June at ID Sound Studios in Los Angeles and released in September 1968. H.P. Lovecraft were a Chicago based band who took the name from their collective love of HP Lovecraft's books. They had moved to San Francisco in February following high-profile shows at the Fillmore West supporting the local San Fransisco Flower Power groups. They were touring extensively during 1968 and were on the brink of wider success, but the album failed to chart and by the beginning of 1969 the group had split up.

This is the original issue with the black Philips label, the fragile gatefold sleeve and the 1Y//1 2Y//1 matrices and matching 1-1-5 1-1-5 stampers of the early first presses.
  The front laminated gatefold sleeve is intact and in EX condition, it has some corner/edge wear and light laminate rubbing on the front cover, with some light rubbing/discolouration on the inner cover, but there is a small area of damage on the inner opening edge. The spine is intact & fully readable and the plain company inner is intact, discoloured & in VG+ condition.

The record is in visually EX+ condition with very little evidence of being played, except for a couple of faint hairlines and one or two faint needle scuffs visible on each side that do not affect play. The labels are clean & bright, in EX+ condition, with evidence of one or two spindle markings.

The sound reproduction is EX+, with definately no skips, sticks or jumps on either side, but there is some very brief background noise during the run in grooves. Overall, a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix numbers are; 852126, 1Y//1 mother stamper 1-1-5, 2Y//1 mother stampers 1-1-5. This is one of the early pressings of the original 1968 UK stereo 1st press issue of this album.
