Haitink Shostakovich Symphonies no 13 etc box 2xLP Decca 414 410-1 NM/NM.
Offered for sale is the legendary 1986 Decca 414 410-1 LP release of the Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Bernard Haitink performing Dimitri Schostakovich Symphony No. 13 "Babi Yar" Op. 113 / Song Cycles - Melodies -Liederzyklen Opp.143a & 79.
The records are in play-graded NM condition, The box is graded NM without issues and comes with a sixteen page booklet containing liner notes and libretto printed in English, French and German. Photos of the items are part of the description.

“The 13th symphony is among Shostakovich’s most impressive achievements. A number of fine recordings of this symphony have been made. However,a performance that I’ve long admired is the one which Bernard Haitink recorded for Decca with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. I think one of the reasons that Haitink is so successful in this symphony is his famed patience. Haitink’s performance is good, with plenty of bite in the playing and singing. Haitink’s soloist is the Romanian bass, Marius Rintzler, who is a big, imposing presence from the start. The Gentlemen of the Concertgebouw Choir are every bit as impressive. When the chorus sings ‘They’re coming’ the vehemence of their delivery coupled with the hammered-out orchestral part chill the blood. Shortly thereafter the main climax arrives and,without any histrionics, Haitink makes it a piledriver of a climax, punctuated by terrifying crashes on bass drum and tam-tam. There’s huge oppressive power on display here and the Decca engineers put it across with terrific impact.”
