Description

SOUL STATION - HANK MOBLEY Original 1st Pressing in Mono (USA) Blue Note 4031 Released in 1960    Engineered by the legendary Rudy Van Gelder
RVG, P (Ear) for Plastylite, 47 W. 63rd St. & Deep Groove on both labels.
This is the real deal.....One of the best known and most loved of all of Hank Mobley's Blue Note recordings and one of the few quartet records he made. Featuring Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), Art Blakey (drums)
Both the record and jacket are in extremely good condition.  I carefully inspected tested both sides of the LP and it plays very clean and quiet throughout.  There are the occasional slight pop or crackle but they are subtle and not intrusive or distracting.  There is a light scuff or line on side two through all tracks but I could not detect but one single quiet crackle throughout the entire side that was noticeable.

The vinyl is VG+ and could possibly be considered in excellent condition but I try to stick to the Goldmine grading standards so I would say it is a VG+.  Plays very clean and the sound of the Original First Pressings are always better than subsequent reissues.
The cover is in Very Good (VG) with intact seams and no split seams.  Some wear to seams, mostly the right half of bottom front cover.  Small corner of back left bottom cover torn away.  Smaller top left corner of back cover has very small tear off and two small lines or marks made by pen.  Overall it is a very good cover with clean laminated front still nice and shiny with good deep blues, extremely nice front cover.
One similar copy sold for over $800 this past December so bid accordingly, as this record in this kind of great quality is very hard to come by.
