ONE OF THE MOST RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER JAZZ RECORDS IN THE WORLD. THIS IS THE MONO PRESSING FROM 1954 of "Helen Merrill" by Helen Merrill on Emarcy Records.

This is a rare pressing which has Clark Terry listed as trumpet player on the back cover, instead of the correct musician Clifford Brown.

MG-36006 A-MF3-A1 and MG 36006 B, MF4 ETCHED IN THE DEAD WAX. Emarcy Jazz logo with Deep Groove .This is the genuine article. 100% AUTHENTIC 1954 EMARCY PRESSING.

This is an authentic 1954 mono pressing that does not have the blue ink back cover. VERY RARE. The logo on the vinyl sticker is not the small drummer logo but instead the Mercury Emarcy Jazz round logo. To clarify, this is an original mono pressing from 1954 but not the 1st pressing with the blue back cover and small drummer logo. If it were a first pressing the price would be $1,500 instead of $500. This pressing is almost as rare and very difficult to find in such nice condition.

THIS RECORD IS FROM OUR PERSONAL COLLECTION. Well maintained. Very Rare.

*Because our clients are mostly jazz collectors and connoisseurs, as we are, we made it our policy to only sell vinyl that we grade in VERY GOOD (VG) condition or better.

Record Grade VG = Very well maintained. We just listened to both sides of the whole album and it plays smoothly.  A few small surface scratches that do not affect the sound. Hardly any surface noise other than the normal occasional popsfrom use and age. One owner. Difficult to find this rare vintage record in such condition. (see pictures) 

Jacket Grade VG = Shiny, clean, well maintained. There is tape on bottom and the top half of jacket to protect seem splits. The handwriting is Clark Terrys name crossed out and the correct musician, Clifford Brown written. The jacket is solid and in sturdy clean condition. Top right corner has dent from shelfing and normal use. If it were not for the tape and dent we would grade it a VG instead of a VG (see pictures)

Helen Merrill (born Jelena Ana Milcetic, July 21, 1930) is an American internationally known jazz vocalist.

In 1954, Merrill recorded her first (and to date most acclaimed) LP, an eponymous record featuring legendary jazz trumpet player Clifford Brown and bassist/cellist Oscar Pettiford, among others. The album was produced and arranged by Quincy Jones, who was then just twenty-one years old. The success of Helen Merrill prompted Mercury to sign her for an additional four-album contract.
