I am not a record dealer, just someone who has accumulated a large collection of vinyl in the 1970s and to a certain extent in the 1980s, and now has (sadly) to let my old 'friends' go to new homes (age and inevitable decay- me, not the records).
Henry Cow (named after the avant-garde composer, Henry Cowell) were formed at Cambridge University. They came to light when they submitted a tape of their work to the late John Peel, who had asked bands to submit material, in his search for the 'next big thing' in music in the early 1970s. He loved them, and they won the prize of exposure on his show, and a record deal. They existed on the fringes of the 'Canterbury Scene', but their music does not fit particularly well in that genre. It is certainly 'political', all the members of the band being active members of the Communist Party, although this first outing, entitled 'Legend' (clue- look at the cover- get it?- Leg-end?) was not overtly Left-wing in it's content- that becomes more obvious in later LPs. Anyway, it is a mix of structured themes, with improvised passages, but it never fully descends into the 'fire in a pet shop' style of free-form music of the time. It is certainly the most approachable and cheerful of their records, and is the proof that Marxist-Leninist music can be fun!
I am not an expert on the grading of records, but I do know that 'Mint'and 'near-Mint' are, for all practical purposes, meaningless. Who buys a record and then never plays it?
The Cover is in very good to excellent condition with only a little abrasion at the edges and some few creases along the spine area. The vinyl surface on both sides is without obvious visual flaw. The label on one side has a few spots of 'foxing', the other, only one spot. The vinyl on listen-through is, I would say between VG+ and EX, with some ticks and tocks here and there. Please remember that I played these records because I loved the music; I did not buy them as future Collectors items or exercises in Hi-Fi navel-gazing. I always took good care of them (at the time they were expensive), however, keeping them in vinyl sleeves, and in cases, but even then, some wear is an inevitability.

The 'Record Collector 2020' book suggests a pricing of £50.00 as reasonable for 'Mint'. This is not 'mint' but still in overall acceptable condition so I have selected a price I think appropriate.
Buyer pays postage but I will pay for the 'sign-for' extra.
