GLI ARCANGELI
directed by ENZO BATTAGLIA, Italy 1964
Anna Maria, a small town girl, flees to Rome with her boyfriend because her parents are opposed to their marriage and calls for protection of his brother Roberto. In Rome, Anna Maria knows, the difficult love of his brother for Diana, all impulses, rebellion, disorder, and also the anxieties and hopes of Paolo, a friend with whom Roberto shares the apartment. The absolute freedom that characterizes the lives of two friends, leads Anna Maria to the discovery of a new way of conceiving human relationships so she decides to shake off what it considers moral prejudices. At that point, having left her boyfriend, she allows herself to Paolo.
The product, even on strictly commercial basis, is very noble. [...] "Gli Arcangeli" is also valid for this: in his being a document of intentions and poetic intonations on today [...]. The film is substantially, honest, sincere, but also bitter and pungent, with the bitterness that was required to issue" (Chiaretti).
One of the best jazz score of Italian cinema featuring the MODERN JAZZ GANG octet with vocal by the great HELEN MERRILL, recorded in Rome in 1964

LP RCA Italiana 33 SP 8003 (ITA)
Roma, 1964
listed in ARRIGO ZOLI, 1983: "Storia del Jazz Moderno Italiano" !
Jacket : EX/VG+
Original carboard cover, front laminated, in EX/VG+ condition.
The laminated front (EX) presents NO wear along the spine, minimal wear on lamination of top seam, absolutely no wear on bottom seam. Corners are quite sharp with minimal wear on top (left/right). Two light creases can be noticed near top left and bottom right corner.
The unlaminated backcover (VG+) shows some overall yellowing due to the age with a small tear near bottom right corner and a soft crease under the top right corner.
The timings of the tracks on side 1 have been underlined with red colour, tracks A3, A6, B2 present a little mark in blue ink, on their left (See cover photos).
Vinyl : EX+/EX+
The lustre and glossy vinyl looks played with much care, with NO signs on both sides, just a few visible rubs (caused by the "in & out" from the cover), visible only under a strong lamp. These few hairline rubs don't affect the music even because the RCA Italiana vinyl plays always beautifully because of the thick glossy surface which suppports a High Frequency response.
The record has been aurally tested even in low and soft passages: please listen to my soundclip.
Catalogue/Label :
LP RCA ITALIANA 33 SP 8003 original 1st Italian pressing.
The original deep grove labels with silver lettering on black are in VG+ condition, with two little tears on each label side filled with black colour; with NO signs visible around the spindle hole. Please, look at my label scans.
GRADING CODE
Grading is VISUAL, under a bright light.
NM (Near Mint): Record has been opened, and probably played, but is in impeccable condition. I do not use "mint".
EX (Excellent): Has signs of use or storage, but still considered top collection quality. Jackets may display some very light wear; vinyl may have a few light sleeve marks only visible in the highest light. Sound will full and clear, with little if any noise (NOTE, some records are just pressed poorly).
VG+ (Very Good Plus): Still a great copy but has a bit more wear. Vinyl may have some light scuffs or scratches, but nothing deep. Jacket may have some ringwear or seamwear. Sound should be great, with minimal if any noise.
VG Very Good): A great play copy but clearly used. Vinyl will display many hairline scuffs or scratches, but will play with a tolerable amount of noise. Jacket may have splits and wear but will not be falling apart.
VG-(Very Good Minus): A used or worn copy, that has not been taken good care of. Vinyl will have many scuffs or scratches, but play through enjoyably despite audible background noise. Covers will have tears, splits, writing, or other issues.
G Fair, Poor: A very rough copy. Will play through without skipping unless otherwise noted, although records of this grade are sold AS-IS.
DISCOMANE will guarantee an absolute conservative record grading
