Description

Up for bid is an original deep groove mono pressing 6 Pieces of Silver by the Horace Silver Quintet.  This was released on the Blue Note label and is BLP-1539.  Featured on the labels is the 767 Lexington Ave address, the original home of Blue Note Records.  Also are the dead wax etchings of "RVG" and ear insignia on both sides indicating the work of the legendary Rudy Van Gelder.  Featured musicians on this recording are Donald Byrd, Hank Mobley, Horace Silver, Doug Watkins and Louis Hayes.

The jacket is in VG+ condition with the beginning of a split bottom seam, but is otherwise clean with no writing.   The LP looks to be in very strong VG condition, but actually plays more like VG+.  There are numerous light, stray marks on either side of the record that result in some crackling, but nothing that seems to overpower the music.  This is certainly not a perfect copy, but is a rather nice copy of an extremely rare, original jazz LP.  Don't miss out.
