With hot solos, Clarence Williams & His Jazz Kings play "Zonky" and

"You've Got To Be Modernistic" on Viva-Tonal Columbia 14488-D.


Although Williams directs the group, it appears that it is James P.

Johnson on piano, not Clarence. Eva Taylor sings the vocal refrain on

both sides.


This is a NYC recording, done on December3, 1929.


The record is in excellent-minus (E-) condition with light surface

scratches. There is a 1" A side stain, which makes little, if any noise.
