Description

Original Pressing from Chess Records.  LP-1469 Mono.

Hello. I am glad to tell you some further details about The Howlin' Wolf LP.

Pricing:  I have had this item appraised by several record dealers.  They have verified the authenticity and value of the LP.  Although I have set the starting price at $275 dollars US, it has been appraised at a much higher value.  The starting price is just to get people started on bidding.  (What Auction starts with the final price?).

Reason for Posting on E-bay

I am hoping that a Serious Collector of Chess or Blues Artists will want to acquire "Howlin' Wolf" for themselves.  I have collected many things over the years, and I know how it is to have a Huge Gap in a collection.  My focus is now more on Jazz LPs...specifically, West Coast Jazz and African-American recording artists of the 1940's, 50's and 60's.  So, I see the sale of this LP as an opportunity to provide funds for filling-in gaps in my Jazz Collection.  If the LP does not sell, well, I'll just have to enjoy having it in my collection. Perhaps even trade it for a boatload of Jazz.  Est ce que tu compris?

Wish me luck on tracking down even more LPs of Chet Baker on Pacific Jazz! Also, I am looking for 'Sounds of the West Coast volume I and II on 10".  My 10" Record Collection includes Buddy DeFranco, John Miller (Emarcy 10").

Just the Facts about this LP:

Now, as Joe Friday would say, 'Just the Facts!'

1) The LP Vinyl has been rated to be in VG++ condition. It is very close to Near Mint

2) I played a few tracks from 'Howlin' Wolf' Very clear and rich, no static. No crackling.  Now, back into the Anti-Static Sleeve it goes.

3) Chess Label on the LP: Silver on Black. "High Fidelity: over the "Chess" on side. Logo on side. Address of Chess Records in lower case 'chess recording corp, chicago'

Side 1 Label details: 'LP 1469'. Also, 'U-11558' on label

Side 2 Label details: 'LP 1469. side 2 has 'U-11559'

Near Label on Record, the codes 'U-11558' and 'U-11559' appear to be hand etched - not a new STAMP.  What does this mean?  Any collectors out there want to speculate? :-) See Pictures of LP and zoom-in near the label.  I used a bright flash to try and capture as much detail as possible.

4) LP Cover:

Front. 'Howlin' Wolf' Rocking Chair and Guitar. Bottom left corner reads 'Chess LP 1469'

Back: Top Left Corner 'CHESS LP 1469', with 'high- fidelity'in lower case underneath.

All 4 Corners have 'LP 1469' running up and down. Top Corners, in additon to having 'LP 1469', have dot,'Howlin' Wolf'

Picture on Back of Wolf. Wolf leaning forward on guitar. Above photo, A few paragraphs credited to Ralph Bass.

***Condition  of 'Howlin' Wolf LP'.  Vinyl is in VG++ Condition, Record Jacket (VG to -VG+) has some ring wear, a little grunge, and one slight tear along Jacket Sleeve (this is only 2-3 inches long on top of sleeve).
