Description
HERE'S AN EARLY RECORD - from 1934 - early for Liberty Music Shops, and early for NAN BLAKSTONE, who hadn't yet removed the "c" from the spelling of her last name.
The tunes are "I CAN'T FIND A PLACE TO DO IT" and "MODERN ROMEO." These songs are of the sophisticated, double-entendre, "Wink-Wink-Nudge-Nudge" school, which came in the wake of Prohibition's repeal, when watering holes favoring such tunes sprung up like mushrooms in damp weather. Miss Blackstone is a perky, canny, unblushing singer, who accompanies herself solidly.
This original 1934 Liberty Music Shops L-161 is E-minus-ish, with some swishy water damage and scratches to the "Place to Do It" side. Not damaged enough to spoil your enjoyment of Miss Blackstone, however.
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
