"Illinois" RARE Original Private Pressing AOR Hard Rock LP! No Reserve!
Illinois - "Illinois" Coyote Records / No Number. Totally unheard of, Mega Rare Private Pressing album. I have been utterly unable to find any info about the band or this record beyond this: The album was recorded at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia and the Engineer was Terry Wicks. Wicks, who also worked on LPs by Loverboy, Robin Lane and others was the house Engineer at Mushroom (notable as the location where many classic albums had been recorded, including those by: Heart, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Loverboy, Queensryche, Skinny Puppy, 54-40, Spirit of the West, Jane Siberry, Sarah McLachlan, and Tegan and Sara) between the years of 1979 and 1983. So, figure it was made somewhere during that time period. The members of the band were Jody Bland and Rick Boudreau, who were the main songwriters, along with Bryan Carter, Arthur Wong and Ross Bavrett. Engineer Terry Wicks also plays Harmonica. Assistant Engineers were Dave Ogilvie and Steve Rebiffe and the album's arwork was by Alan Kawashima.
The album has a great 1980's AOR Hard Rock type sound with a distinct Southern Rock flavor to it partially due to the vocal harmonies that are used thoughout. I have no further info on the band. You would think they might be from Illinois but then they are recording in Canada and the band sounds sorta Southern (and has a member named Boudreau...) so who knows. What I can tell you is that it is a great album for fans of the genre and just about impossible to find!
In nice condition! The cover shows some ring and edge storage wear, a little round remnant of a sticker in the upper right corner and some corner softening. The bottom right corner has been smushed pretty good causing a creas and about a 1" split in the bottom seam. Still really nice and solid and should rate a VG! Please note - any marks, streaks or blotches that you may see which are not mentioned in the write up (like those in the upper right corner of the cover) are scanner artifacts, not defects in the record cover... I will list any actual defects! The vinyl is also nice! There are la few ight sleeve scuffs if you look closely (and have good eyes..) but judging by the clean glossy condition, I don't think the album was ever played much! Should easily rate at least VG++. The labels show a couple light spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint!

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over eleven years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
