Description

TAMPA RED and GEORGIA TOM very likely did not know what they would set in motion when they recorded their original song, "IT'S TIGHT LIKE THAT" for Vocalion in 1928.  "It's Tight Like That" quickly became a sort of blues National anthem. It was widely covered under the original title*, and copied under various names, on all the major labels, even unto Europe and Asia, and it remains popular to this day.  I don't suppose Tampa Red and Georgia Tom ever collected the royalties due to them for this phenomenon. If they had, they could have retired by 1930!  

Georgia Tom, singing and playing all by himself, does "GRIEVIN' ME" on the flip side of this epochal record.  

This original "white box" Vocalion 1216 is V+ on "It's Tight Like That," and E on "Grievin' Me."
