Description
Up for bid is the rare "Ad Back" 1st version of Introducing the Beatles with side one containing "Love Me Do". This record has some issues but is still collectable never the less for its history. I am the 2nd owner of this record purchased in the 70s from the original owner. She didn't take care of records like she should have and the signs of neglect are seen as proof of the pictures. I tend to be very conservative on grading my records. I DO NOT believe in a Mint grade condition even if sealed. I would have to grade this as a poor condition even though some dealers would grade it as good. Ebay has its lowest grade as good but still I would grade this as poor. What you are getting is a record that shows what the 1st pressing was like and it's history, not a record you could get a good recording off of it.
Issues with this record are described below:
Let's start with the cover. Right away, there is black spray paint on the back cover where it appears something was painted and the cover was used to keep the paint off of something that wasn't suppose to be painted. Very unfortunate! The front side has the word "true" written near Paul's hands otherwise there are no marks other than usual wear on the front cover. The top spine is split almost 5" from the opening and there is major wear 1/2" from the left spine that measures 2 1/2" to the right of that. On the bottom of the album is a 4 3/4" split from the opening and a 4" seam split from the spine. The spine or printing side(left) is in good shape without wear or tears/spits.
Now onto the record. Side one label has wear and there are many scratches one as long as 6" running from the run-in to the run-out grooves. Run-out area is many small scratches. Side two label is worn and run-out area has many small scrathes. Not as many as side one. Side two has less scratching with approximately a dozen visable major scratching. There are smaller/minor ones but visable also. It is obvious that side one was the favorite side being played.
Song selections are as follows:
Version 1
Side 1: “I Saw Her Standing There,” “Misery,” “Anna (Go To Him),” “Chains,” “Boys,” “Love Me Do”
Side 2: “P.S. I Love You,” “Baby It’s You,” “Do You Want To Know A Secret,” “A Taste Of Honey,” “There’s A Place,” “Twist And Shout”
Please any and all questions before bidding. If you need more photos, that can be arranged. Unfortunately Ebay only allows 12 photos to be included with this auction.
Thanks for taking a look and good luck. I would love this record to find a new home to a collector who will treasure it for what it is and not a reseller.
