Recorded on January 6, 28 and March 1, 1960 in NYC. Original recording produced by Bob Shad. This reissue LP produced by Akira Taguchi, mastered and cut by Bernie Grundman, and pressed in Japan.

A sonic marvel for audiophiles and invaluable treasure for jazz lovers and collectors! In this series of amazing vinyl reissue of Time label classic jazz recordings, reissue producer Akira Taguchi pulled all the stops.

With one exception*, all these titles are remastered and cut from the 2-channel analog tapes by the legendary engineer Bernie Grundman, using a very special hybrid (tube and solid state) tape playback system. The lacquer was then sent to Japan, to be pressed as an audiophile, 200-gram vinyl LP with the best quality control in the world.

The result is, by far, the best-sounding vinyl reissues of these recordings. One title (Hootenanny My Way by Terry Gibbs) had never been re-released on any format before.

Singer Jackie Paris had a long and successful career, but, he recorded surprisingly few albums under his own name. Sings The Lyrics Of Ira Gershwin is one of them, and was recorded in 1960, when the singer was at the top of his game.

The interesting concept of this album is to focus on the lyrics of Ira Gershwin, and purposefully avoiding the compositions of George Gershwin. Instead, they chose those songs written by Ira and composed by Kurt Weill, Harold Arlen, Arthur Schwartz, Jerome Kern and Vernon Duke. Swinging Paris is supported comfortably by a jazz combo led by arranger Irvin Joseph and augmented by a string quartet.

In my terminology Scratches are feeler type and Scuffs are just cosmetic and usually inaudible.
