10-2 DOUBLE PLUS
This single by Jackie And Tut started out on the Chicago based Dawn Records label as a part 1 – part two thing in 1967. Then it re-appeared on Chess Records across town and got the push nationally.
It is a really unusual boogaloo record with a steel guitar (yeah!) and a spoken vocal by Chicago DJ Herb Kent – the Cool Gent (the longest running DJ in the history of radio – 70 years!). He would have been 39 at the time of this record and worked for KVON AM 1690.
That’s Freddie Roulette on the steel guitar. The record is flipped with “Hawaiian Punch.”
