JADE WARRIOR

INCREDIBLY RARE VERTIGO WHITE LABEL IN UNIQUE SLEEVE

Part of a collection of Vertigo white labels on eBay now!

'JADE WARRIOR' LP

NEAR MINT/NEAR MINT- CONDITION

1971 UK 12" album release VERTIGO (6360 033) 33.3 rpm STEREO

Matrices: 6360033 1Y//1 1 3 and 6360033 2Y//1 1 3

NOTE: The standard UK album matrices also omit the 420 UK pressing codes on both sides

I have questioned this as a promotional record in the sub-title listing above as nothing is printed on either the sleeve or the label to indicate that this is what it is, and I have never seen a similar Vertigo white label before. However, I can only assume that this is a promo copy as it is one of five similar releases that I purchased from somebody who worked for Philips during the early 1970's. They seemed to remember that they had obtained all five records 'in house'.

There is no possibility that they might all be European pressings as three of the five copies have the '420' UK country code in their matrices, the two exceptions being this Jade Warrior LP and the Daddy Longlegs album.  However, the UK codes for both of these albums were also omitted from the regular UK pressings.

All five records have identical white paper labels with a small Vertigo swirl at 12 o'clock on BOTH sides which is smaller than the regular B Side small swirl. The label print is also different from the regular UK copies, and all have a small Copyright Control box at 3 o'clock under the catalogue numbers. No dates or country of manufacture are listed on any labels, and none of the records have swirl inner bags, instead being stored in heavy paper polylined inner sleeves similar to those found with early 70s Philips releases. The outer sleeves are all standard UK versions (once again with the exception of this Jade Warrior LP) with UK information and VO PRICE CODE boxes.

I am indebted to the fabulous Vertigoswirl website, which while not confirming exactly what these records were certainly confirmed what they were not! Check it out by adding a dot com. If anybody out there can add any further information please get in touch.

PERSONNEL: TONY DUHIG guitar JOHN FIELD percussion and flute GLYN HAVARD bass and vocals

Produced by Jade Warrior

TRACK LISTING: SIDE A 1. The Traveller 2. A Prenormal Day At Brighton 3. Masai Morning (inc. Casting Of The Bones, The Hunt and A Ritual Of Kings) 4. Windweaver 5. Dragonfly Day (inc. Metamorphosis, Dance Of The Sun Spirit and Death) SIDE B 1. Petunia 2. Telephone Girl 3. Psychiatric Sergeant 4. Slow Ride 5. Sundial Song

CONDITION: VINYL NEAR MINT The record looks and sounds as if it has hardly ever been played. The vinyl is beautifully clean and bright and is virtually pristine. The sound reproduction throughout is fantastic. LABELS EXCELLENT The white paper labels would have graded as NEAR MINT but for a name neatly handwritten in blue Biro on Side A. Both sides retain their clean original whiteness. A strong light shows up just a few minute spindle marks. The black printing is bright, clear and clean. INNER SLEEVE NEAR MINT- The original polylined thick white paper inner bag has little creasing and no splits, tears or writing. SLEEVE NEAR MINT- The sleeve is a single rather than a gatefold as found on the regular release, and features the artwork and lyrics later to be found in the regular release's inner gatefold. It has a purple Vertigo swirl in the top righthand corner of the front cover, and the catalogue number and VO PRICE CODE box in the top righthand corner of the back. This highly laminated purple and white sleeve is in beautiful condition. There are NO folds, NO creases, NO stains, NO writing, and NO ringwear! A tiny white blemish on the back cover is the only thing stopping a full NEAR MINT grading. The spine has pinched ends and is totally pristine with clear bold printing. FANTASTIC!

AN AMAZING VERTIGO RARITY IN INCREDIBLE CONDITION.

ABOUT ME: If you haven't done business with me before my name is Andy Hibberd and I own a "bricks and mortar" secondhand record shop called 101 COLLECTORS RECORDS in Farnham, Surrey, about one hour out of central London. I deal in old and collectable vinyl, CDs, DVDs and memorabilia in all musical genres, as well as new releases and re-issues. Please feel free to get in touch if you need any further information about this item, if you have any questions about what's currently in stock, or if you have a collection for sale and need some advice.

All photographs are of the actual item offered for sale: I never use 'stock' pictures or re-use old photos of previously sold stock.

All items are listed for 10 days, running from Thursdays to Sundays. If you wish to leave a message, or ask a question, please try to do so before the last Sunday as I try not to be sitting in front of my laptop on my day off. Also, I always let my auctions run their full course, so please do not contact me asking if the item can be sold early. Live a little, enjoy the thrill of bidding.

Payment may only be made in UK £ Sterling: I accept PayPal, UK personal cheques (with bank guarantee card details) and most credit/debit cards. I cannot accept cash payments unless they are offered in person upon collection or delivery.

I am always happy to receive any wants-lists, but file them carefully on little bits of paper under slightly larger bits of paper that aren't always quite where they should be. I will guarantee to find what you want within minutes of you a) finding it elsewhere, b) deciding you can live without Venezuelan Death Metal after all, or c) losing the will to live.

Despite that, all my vinyl is strictly graded using the Record Collector RRPG system, and all goods are properly protected and posted in strong, new Covers 33 packaging. Please recycle the packing cardboard if possible - it might just offset the damage done when the item was originally manufactured. Alternatively, throw it away and set fire to a couple of tyres.

If you are bidding, please read all descriptions fully and take the time to read my Postage and Packaging costs as well as my Returns Policy. Certificates of Posting are obtained for all items despatched without exception, but I can accept no liability for any items that may be lost or damaged in the post, although I will happily provide you with any necessary paperwork in the event of you claiming against Royal Mail. I always strongly recommend that you chose the insured option for postage, irrespective of the item's value.

Items selling for under £34 will be posted Royal Mail First Class in the UK, or by Airmail (Small Packets) to destinations abroad, unless insurance is requested. Items selling for £34 or above will ONLY be posted by the Special Delivery Next Day service in the UK, which will include insurance. For similarily priced items selling to customers abroad I ONLY use the International Signed For service, which will also include insurance equal to the selling price. If you are not prepared to pay these postage charges then PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM.

Please read my Feedback comments and look at my past sales: I am not an anonymous internet seller but a responsible and contactable UK record dealer. You can bid with confidence.

Right swirl fans, it has been suggested that this is not a promo record, but a UK copy in a unique export-only sleeve, with labels made in Holland (!), destined for the Singapore and Far East market. The upside-down swirls would certainly place the labels as Dutch. The LP itself never went east and stayed in the UK. Thanks Marcel.  Any other suggestions out there?
