Incredibly rare....very few of these metallic acetate master references were cut. Few survived as most were eventually scrapped.
UNISSUED in this form, this is the complete, unedited, 4:26 version of I GOT A GOOD THING. This track was originally edited into 2 parts and intended to be issued as Polydor 14206 in 1973. That record was never pressed or released.
Instead, Brown re-recorded the song as STONED TO THE BONE.
I GOT A GOOD THING, separated into 2 parts and with over-dubbed percussion, was eventually issued on the CD THE JAMES BROWN SINGLES VOL. 9..
But in the meantime, in 1975, Brown took this track and replaced the vocals turning it into a track called YOUR LOVE which appeared on Polydor album PF 6054, EVERYBODY'S DOING THE HUSTLE.
Regardless of all the post-production, this acetate is the UNISSUED original track with original vocals and none of the overdubs.
The track was recorded at Starday Studios in Nashville on September 14, 1973 with James Brown:vocals, organ & electric piano; Jasaan Sanford:trumpet; Fred Wesley:trombone; Maceo Parker:alto sax; Cheese Martin:guitar; Fred Thomas:bass; John Morgan:drums. BTW, at the same session they recorded Lyn Collins' "We Want To Parrty, Parrty, Parrty"..
NOTE: Acetate reference discs are not intended for repeated play - their function was as a TEST record.. HOWEVER, these play and sound great!
