For auction is JAMES CLAY & DAVID "FATHEAD" NEWMAN doing "The Sound of Wide Open Spaces" on Riverside RLP 12-327, MONO, 1960.
SOUND: VG+ It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Oddly enough, the record begins with some surface noise/crackling for 60 seconds or less, then it quickly fades away, with the rest of the side sounding excellent and clean! The same pattern is repeated on side 2: less than 60 seconds with some extraneous noise, then quickly fades off and the remainder sounds great! So like I said, it's a little odd, but the important fact remains, once you get past these little patches of static, the record sounds awesome.
VINYL: VG Visually, the vinyl shows routine wear including faint marks, scuffs, or smudges. Nothing that looks too worrisome. Overall, not bad.
COVER: VG The cover is very nice. The edges show some wear, with a 3/4 split on top. Corners are a bit frayed. The front and back are very clean and unmarked, with minor routine wear/aging.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
