Description
Holy Grail of Norwegian Jazz. Norsk Jazzforum Presents Egil Kapstad Choir & Orchestra Live at the Munch Museum, Oslo, recorded May 10th 1967 and released in 1968. Only 500 copies made. All of Side 1 consists of the track “Syner” which is based on an Oscar Wilde poem. Awesome experimental psych/jazz track featuring Atle Hammer (tp), Frode Thingnaes (trb), Helge Hurum (fl), Bjorn Johansen, Jan Garbarek (ten), Terje Bjorklund (p), Per Loberg (b), Jon Christensen (dm), Anne Kleive, Ingebjorg Amundsen, Maria Helbekkmo (altos), Pernille Anker, Laila Dalseth, Elaine Roede (sopranos), Egil Kapstad (dir). Great vocals, sometimes singing, sometimes making nice sounds (or screaming). Songs on Side 2 are “Children’s Waltz” and “Song For The Birds” featuring Atle Hammer (tp), Frode Thingnaes (trb), Helge Hurum (fl), Bjorn Johansen, Knut Riisnaes (ten), Egil Kapstad (p), Per Loberg (b), and Svein Christiansen (dm). All music written by Egil Kapstad. Cool cover design by Knut Harlem. Cover has wear, creases, and scuffs/small tears that should be obvious from the photos. No seam splitting. Vinyl is very clean. I can’t see any marks on it. Looks and sounds great.
