LP : Jay Hoggard ?– Mystic Winds, Tropic Breezes

Original US-pressing from 1982 on INDIA NAVIGATION, IN-1049. Four long tracks, 3 written by Hoggard and 1 by Anthony Davis. Great line-up with a seldom heard instrumentation. Ethereal atmospheric parts develop into strong rhythmic parts, swinging parts turn into more “free” playing and more; a fine spiritual jazz set with strong players in top form.

Tracks: side 1: Mystic Winds, Tropic Breezes 8:27 - The Golden Ashanti 12:12

              side 2: Other Side Of The Ocean 13:20 - Listen In Silence 10:08

Condition: side 1 has one tiny short superficial scuff at the end of track 1 to the beginning of track 2, side 1 looks otherwise fine, the scuff is not feelable and not audible, the beginning of the second track has soft percussion only and you hear nothing underneath this, the complete side 1 plays in mint-.

Side 2 looks mint-, for no visual reason there are ca. 5 soft tics behind the bass-intro of the second track, side 2 plays otherwise in mint-.

The heavy cardboard cover shows some shelfwear, all seams/spine are intact with rub on both seams, the spine is rubbed only in a few spots and the lettering is readable for the most, the front has moderate ringwear and some wrinkles, the part parallel to the top has a slightly brighter red colour than the rest ( ca. 1/5 inch), there's a tiny line parallel to the bottom seam were the sleeve is kind of slightly abrased; still looks quiet good, overall vg-.

Zustand: Seite 1 hat einen dünnen kurzen oberflächlichen Wischer am Ende des ersten Stücks hin zum Anfang des zweiten Tracks, ansonsten sieht Seite 1 mint- aus. Der kleine Wischer ist weder fühl- noch hörbar, am Anfang des 2. tracks ist nur leisere Percussion, darunter ist nichts an Nebengeräuschen zu hören, die komplette Seite 1 spielt in mint-.

Seite 2 sieht mint- aus, ohne optisch erkennbaren Grund gibt es aber hinter dem Bassintro des 2. tracks ca. 5 leise Tics, ansonsten spielt auch Seite 2 in mint-.

Das Cover hat einige Lagerspuren, alle Kanten sind intakt aber mit Abrieb auf der oberen und unteren Kante, die seitliche Kante ist nur an einigen wenigen kleinen Stellen berieben und die Schrift ist überwiegend gut lesbar, die Vorderseite hat Ringwear und einige Runzeln, parallel zut oberen Kante ist die rote Farbe etwas heller als auf der restlichen Vorderseite, parallel zur unteren Kante ist eine dünne Linie in der das Cover oberflächlich leicht abgerieben ist, die Rückseite ist okay mit mäßigem Ringwear; sieht aber alles doch noch recht gut aus, insgesamt in vg-.

Alle Platten wurden professionell gereinigt, entweder von mir (Hannl Mikro) oder von den Vorbesitzern (Okki Nokki, Loricraft o.Ä.). Anschließend wurden sie nur wenige Male abgespielt bzw. nur einmal von mir zum Bewerten angehört (komplett oder in Ausschnitten). Optische Bewertung erfolgt in Tageslicht, in normalen Kunstlicht & unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe. Platten kommen mit neuer hochwertiger Innenhülle & in einer Schutzhülle. Bitte beachten: auch prof. gereinigte Platten können einige Staubpartikel haben; “eingefangen” während optischer & akkustischer Bewertung, Fotografieren oder den wenigen Abspielungen der Vorbesitzer.

Grading & Cleaning:

• all records have been cleaned on a professional record cleaning machine, either by me (Hannl Mikro) or by the pre-owners (Okki Nokki, Loricraft or the like). After cleaning the records have been played just a few times (or only once by me for playgrading)

• I playgrade each record (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, high-end Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN/ EMT TU-3 SFL (please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment)

• I also visually grade cleaned records in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

• only an unplayed record is mint, my highest grading for a used record is mint- . My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

• cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve

• pl. note: even pro cleaned records may have received some dust particles during visual-/play-grading, photographing or few pre-owner playbacks
