For sale  : Lot of 5 reel-to-reel tapes containing unreleased music by composer/musician John Murtaugh. By 1970 Murtaugh had already helped introduce the Moog synthesizer into mainstream Jazz (see Murtaugh's 'Blues Current' LP on Polydor) when he embarked on a successful career as a commercial composer. Murtaugh created hundreds of jingles and sound-logos for high-profile clients such as Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, Yellow Pages, Avon, Burger King, TWA and Texaco, working with musicians such as Hubert Laws, Astrud Gilberto and Roberta Flack. Available here for sale is a sampling of 5 reel-to-reel tapes out of roughly 100 that we purchased directly from John Murtaugh's estate. They represent a library of electronic and acoustic instrumental sounds, melodies, fragments and other material gathered for utilization in his commercial music. Murtaugh's strong musical personality and over-looked status as a figure in the development of electronic and electro-acoustic techniques in Jazz and R&B makes this collection fascinating.

SALE CONDITIONS FOR SEALED RECORDS:

Sealed records are sold as stated in unplayed condition. We cannot accept returns of sealed records under any circumstances unless they are still sealed as shipped. Please notify us with your payment if you want us to open this sealed record and check the merchandise before we ship it.

Seam splits (the disc breaking through the spine of the cover in transit) can occur as part of the shipping process. We always pack carefully, but the only sure way to prevent seam splits in transit is to remove the record from the cover before packing it, which we do with all non-sealed records. At the buyer?s request, we will open a sealed record and pack the vinyl in its protective sleeve separate from the cover. Unless the buyer requests that the sealed record be opened and packed in this manner, we are not liable for any seam splits that may occur in transit.
