Much has been written about this album. It's not music for the masses like the Beatles nor does it enjoy the snob appeal of Bubble Puppy or Morning Dew; it certainly doesn't attract the over-hip like White Light / White Heat or the really gone like 200 Motels. The album you're viewing is a bit more esoteric, just a little under the radar; it's the poor man's cool, the working man's blessed holiday. Michael Fremer knows it intimately and sings its praises saying things like 'one of the most influential recordings in rock history'.

Me, I'm a simple online record store clerk. What do I know? I just like listening to AQUALUNG, and I've done so at least a hundred times. When my boss asked me to write the text for this listing I told her that there was really nothing to say, at least nothing that hasn't already been said. I told her: The music speaks. Hear it. That's all you need.

I might be wrong. Classic Records has developed what they claim is 'the ultimate in vinyl formulation', a boast that may not be too far off the mark. Let me say in my own words what Classic says about their new 'Clarity Vinyl': It's made of more than 90% of the highest quality co-polymer around (I'm told that co-polymer is the main ingredient in vinyl pellets from which records are pressed); also, there's no carbon black. This carbon black is a bad mother because it contains trace metals that become magnetized, creating all manner of distortion in your needle during play. So by removing the carbon black, Classic has reduced what sounds like a smear or a smudge in the music -- subtle, but noticeable when you play it loud as I like to. We all know that 45 rpm provides higher fidelity than 33?. Again, it's subtle or as Classic says: it extracts more of the nuance from the complex vertical and horizontal groove modulations in stereo LP’s. Right. And one more thing -- being single-sided reduces mechanical resonances in the cartridge and actually transfers these resonances to the turntable platter where they are absorbed and don't manifest as distortion in the music. Bottom line: These Clarity Vinyl records significantly reduce every aspect of distortion during playback. Plus, they look VERY cool!

This new Clarity Vinyl allows you to crank up the volume and hear an album like you've never heard it before. The sound is wide and clean, open and transparent, all the things you want when you kick back after a hard day in the salt mines. You don't need a beer or a joint -- the music gets you high. What better recommendation is there?

Now the details: This is a stereo 4-LP box set still SEALED in the factory shrink-wrap and in MINT condition. It is NEW, unopened and nearly perfect (one minor flaw upper left corner of box). This a pressing so rare I use my friend Bob's standard line: massively rare. And indeed it is being one of the first 25 made and numbered by Chris Bellman as #3 of 25. How can you get more "massively rare"? So help me out here and do yourself a big favour at the same time; its value will increase a hundred fold if not more. No one else has it; no one else can get it. We're the one! And don't forget we pay S&H and insurance (within the USA only, of course)!
