Description
This LP vinyl is from my private collection, which I am now selling off, all of which I bought new back in the 60's, and onwards, and it has not been played for at least 40 years, until now.
This 1st pressing is one of the 3 earliest Island logo variants that had the pink label. This one has the textured pink label, with the white i (see the photos).
Catalogue number 'IPLS-9103'.
The stamped matrix on the runouts are -
Side A - ILPS+9103+A2
Side B – ILPS+9103+B2 (stamped on edge of label due to very small runout area)
The Vinyl
I am grading this as VG. It has some marks, light scuffing, and hairline scratches, when viewed under the LED light, but these do not affect the sound, and it plays very clearly. There are no skips, jumps or sticking.
Side A – Static crackle/pops are evident in the lead-in, and there is a feint 'clicking' from a very minor scratch for the first 20 seconds of track 1. With an LP of this age, there is the inevitable background static crackle/pops etc on and off throughout this side, more apparent between tracks. A proffesional clean would probably sort this out. It still has a fairly good glossy finish. The label is in superb condition, with no marks, no spindle wear, and no stickers or writing.
Side B – This side has the same static crackle/pops in the lead-in, but there is less general 'noise' throughout; just noticeable between tracks. The label is in the same superb condition as side A.
The vinyl will be sent in a new inner polylined paper sleeve.
I am grading this as VG+. There are no creases, no splits, no writing or stickers. It's in really good shape. The spine and text are very clean.There is minimal age discolouration on the back cover. The only crease is on the left hand side of the 'pop-up' image inside (see photo). There is just a little corner bruising on one corner (see photo), and some edge bruising along one of the opening edges. I think this is due partly to the fact that the inner print, which is a separate sheet stuck to the front/back sheet, has been misaligned by about 2mm during assembly! (see photo). The original inner sleeve is included, although it is quite creased.

The album will be sent in a sturdy purpose made LP album packaging, with added card stiffeners, and marked 'FRAGILE' and 'DO NOT BEND'. The vinyl will be sent in a new inner polylined paper sleeve, but separate to the main outer sleeve, to avoid damage from movement in transit. The album's original inner sleeve will be included. The album will then be enclosed in a polythene album outer sleeve.
