VERY, VERY FEW COPIES EXIST ON THIS LABEL VARIANT AS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT WAS ISSUED CHRYSALIS BECAME AN AUTONOMOUS COMPANY, INDEPENDENT FROM ISLAND AND VIRTUALLY ALL PRESSINGS FROM THIS PERIOD ARE ON THEIR GREEN CHRYSALIS LABEL - EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND AND HARDLY EVER TURNING UP FOR SALE - PERSONALLY, THIS IS ONLY COPY I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!

Stand Up is the second album by Jethro Tull. Prior to this album, the band's original guitarist Mick Abrahams had left the band due to musical differences with Ian Anderson. Abrahams wanted to stay with the blues-rock sound of This Was, while Anderson wished to branch out into other musical forms and Stand Up represents the first album on which Anderson was in full control of the music and lyrics.
The album goes in a different direction from his earlier work, revealing influences from Celtic music, folk and classical music. The instrumental "Bourée" (one of Jethro Tull's better-known songs) is a re-working of "Bourrée in E minor" by J.S.Bach.
The gatefold album cover, in a woodcut style designed by artist James Grashow, originally opened up similar to a child's pop-up book, so that a cut-out of the band's personnel stood up — a pun on the album's title. Stand Up won New Musical Express's award for best album artwork in 1969.
Trivia note: "We Used to Know" was the inspiration for The Eagles' 1976 track "Hotel California". The chord progressions are virtually identical

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT and have NO marks/unwanted writing and barely any evident spindles - BEAUTIFUL CLEAN LABELS
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces have a DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN with their ORIGINAL BRIGHT LUSTRE. There are some (very) light marks on the surfaces but these have very little audio consequence (see detailed assessment below)
VINYL Audio: The audio is absolutely SENSATIONAL - CRYSTAL CLEAR, DEEP, RICH, VIBRANT SOUND. There are NO scratches, NO sticks or jumps and apart from some light background surface noise between a couple of the tracks (nothing major), the album plays to a very high standard with SUPERB AUDIO CLARITY, NO groove-wear and NO distortion and must be very critically graded an EXCELLENT+ for audio. TREMENDOUS LP and NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page). Overall, a GREAT COPY OF THIS MASSIVELY RARE PRESSING WHICH SOUNDS SUPERB THROUGHOUT
SLEEVE: The original matte POP-UP gatefold cover is CLEAN, BRIGHT and FRESH. The outer and inner surfaces display little signs of any rubbing and the POP-UP is PERFECT. The edges have very little storage wear and the spine displays all the text CLEAR and BOLD. There is some light 'ring' and discolouration to the white back (please see photos) but overall, an EXCELLENT sleeve
