JETHRO TULL - WITCH'S PROMISE - 1970 GERMAN 7" TEST PRESSING - VERY GOOD
This is a mega-rare German test pressing of Jethro Tull's 7" single "Witch's Promise"; Tracks: Side 1: Witch's Promise (03:50); Side 2: The Teacher (04:42).
It was released in Germany on the Island Records label in 1970, catalogue number 6014 002 (AA 6014 002.1/2 F) (WIP-6077). This catalogue number was the same for the French, the Dutch and the German release. So how do I know that this is the test pressing of the German release? Simple: only this release refers (between brackets) to the UK catalogue number and has the names of the songs and the performer on the bottom of the record's centre label; also only on the German release is printed "PM" (see picture). All of this does only correspond to the regular German release and not to the French or Dutch regular releases. The record comes in a soft cardboard plain white sleeve with "Jethro Tull" written in ink (see picture).
Test pressings of 7" singles usually ended up in the bin after the OK was given for pressing the regular releases and are therefore extremely rare and hard to find.
The record is in very good condition; there is some surface noise here and there but no lessening/deterioration in the sound quality; there are only a few tiny superficial scratches but they do not cause cracks or jumps. Overall, this 7" single can be graded as Very Good.
An extremely rare Jethro Tull 7" single for sure and a must have for the Jethro Tull collector!!
