Description

With the 50th anniversary of the death of Jimi Hendrix coming later this year, on the 18th September, this is a great time to collect this excellent original version of this classic double album.

This LP is the third and last studio album released before he died. It was released in October 1968 on the Track Record label.

The sleeve is fully laminated, and is the very first version of the first UK pressing of the gatefold sleeve, indicated by the white text, and the smaller photos of Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding on the inner front face of the gatefold sleeve. This is the version before the sleeve with the blue print (according to Discogs!)

Two newspaper articles from the time, are also included (see details below).

This album is from my original personal collection, which I am now selling off.

I have graded this record using the Goldmine Standard grading system. Although it has been visually graded under LED lighting, I have also playgraded it. I consider that I have been very honest with my assessment, and have not over-graded it. Photos can never do justice to the condition of the record, so I've tried to describe the vinyl's condition as accurately and fairly as possible, so as not to disappoint the buyer.

Please check out the photos that highlight aspects, and form part of the following descriptions.

Catalogue No. 613008/613009

Matrices (stamped and etched corrections)

Side A 61300#8 A//1

Side D 61300#8 B//1

Side B 61300#9A#//1

Side C 61300#9#B#//1.

Note:- # = scratched out character.

The Vinyl

I am grading this as VG+. The playback on these two discs is amazing, considering their age. So clear and crisp.

There is very little background noise on all four sides. Just a little static crackle at the start of disc A, then only occasionally between tracks throughout both discs. There is just a little scuffing and only a few hairline, non-audible scratches on both discs, when viewed under an LED light. Visually the discs are very clean, and are still holding a good gloss. There are absolutely no skips, jumps or sticking.

If it wasn't for these surface marks, I would probably grade the discs as Near Mint.

The matt black and silver labels are in excellent condition with very little spindle scuffing, and no hole wear. No stickers, or writing.

The Sleeve

I am grading this as VG. The laminate on this sleeve still has a good gloss, and the colours are still vibrant. It has a few laminate creases, and there is some scuffing wear along the bottom edge and down the spine, and the spine corners. The open edges of the sleeve have just a little bruising. The two original polylined record sleeves are showing the usual age related yellowing, and some corner creases. From the printed detail, one of them may not be the original.

There are no splits, no stickers, and no writing anywhere.

Newspaper Articles

I collected these articles at the time, and they are from the Sunday paper 'The People' 27 Sept 1970, and 'Sounds' music paper 21 July 1973. Both are about the life, the death, and the influence Jimi had on the world of music. The article in the Sunday People, just 9 days after he died, was an interview with his girlfriend Kathy Etchingham.

Both articles are a fascinating read. A must-have for any Hendrix fan!

I also have Hendrix's first 2 albums for sale - 'Are You Experienced' and 'Axis: Bold As Love'. Check them out.

This album will be sent by Royal Mail 1 day Special delivery, including insurance.

The album will be sent out in a sturdy purpose made LP album packaging, with added card stiffeners, and marked 'FRAGILE' and 'DO NOT BEND'. The discs will be sent in new inner polylined paper sleeves, but separate to the main outer sleeve, to avoid damage from movement in transit. Both the album sleeve and the two discs will then be enclosed in polythene album outer sleeves.

Due to the current health situation, if you buy this album, I can store it safely for you until you are happy for me to send it to you. If you would like this option please let me know, otherwise I will send it as normal.

Please Note:- I use eBay's Global Shipping Program for posting outside the UK.

Thanks for looking.
