Description
COLUMBIA SCX6249: JOE HARRIOTT 'Personal Portrait'
UK jazz rarity from 1968, this was the last album Harriott made before his premature death. The notes on the cover contain a "personal appreciation" by his longtime producer, Denis Preston. The music contained on this album is wider in style than his other discs for the same label. Harriott is heard in a variety of settings from a free-form duet with Pat Smythe's piano, through a medium-sized combo - albeit of unusual instrumentation - also featuring Stan Tracey to tracks with a string quartet. This is an UK 1st EMI/Columbia stereo pressing with blue/black label and a flipback sleeve.
Side 1 'Saga'/'Portrait Of Jenny'/'Now's The Time'/'Indian Summer'
Side 2 'Darn That Dream'/'September Song'/'Abstract Doodle'/'Mr. Blueshead'
CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The disc is E+ (VG++) with a few very light scratches only, visible under a bright 'grading' light. There is also a small amount of surface dirt. This disc would benefit from being cleaned. The cover is EtoE+ (VG+toVG++), with some surface scratching/creasing/shadowing and some surface dirt/staining on the back. There is also some very minor corner damage.
