Description

For auction is JOE NEWMAN with FRANK FOSTER, "Good N' Groovy," on Prestige Swingville SVLP 2019, MONO, DG, RVG, 1961. With Tommy Flanagan, Billy English, Eddie Jones.

SOUND: NM

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Beautiful playback: very clean, clear, crisp sound! I noticed one faint tic on side A and 2 teenie tics on side B. That is all, my friends! A fantastic sounding record...

VINYL: VG+ or better

Side A has a couple of long faint scuffs. They appear superficial (and the playback is great). Side B has no flaws I can see other than prints or smudges. The deep-grooved maroon labels are in nice condition with a few faint spindle marks. The label has a drill-hole as does the jacket (see pics.) The run-outs feature the "RVG" stamp. Aside from the drill-hole, the vinyl/labels are VG+ or better.

JACKET: VG+

The center upper edge is split about 1 inch. The two upper corners are a little frayed. The spine and bottom edge, bottom corners are all solid and nice. There is a drill-hole through the jacket (under the "J" in "Joe"). The laminated front cover is clean and unmarked, in very nice condition. The back is clean with a "promo" stamp, and minor, routine aging. Aside from the drill-hole, the jacket is VG+

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

A brilliant performance, and the record plays beautifully. No reserve, bidding starts at $18.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
