Rarest Northern Soul 45
Joe Tex (yeah, he really was from Texas) was quite the force in R&B from his first hit in 1965 with "Hold What You've Got" right up to his 1970s hit "I Gotcha" and "Ain't Gonna Bump No More." In fact, this single is one of his few '60s singles that wasn't such a big hit.
Joe Tex cut a big bunch of records for Dial, many of which are Northern Soul classics, but THIS ONE IS THE BEST OF THEM ALL. The topside is "I Wanna Be Free" and while it wasn't a hit when it was released in November of 1963, it has since become his most desirable 45 by a wide, wide margin. Just listen to Joe – he's about to explode !
