This auction is for a very rare, original MONO pressing of the John Mayall LP 'Blues at Laurel Canyon'. This has the unboxed, red Decca labels and original inner sleeve.
By 1968, when this LP was released, mono was pretty much a completely dead, obsolete format. Stereo records cost the same as their mono counterpart and stereo record players had come down considerably in price, so everybody bought stereo. By 1969 mono was completely discontinued.
This is a cracking copy of this very rare mono pressing!!

The cover is looking really nice for its age! The front cover is clean with a good, rich colour to it and just a couple of little laminate creases up the spine side, and a crease in the top right over the Decca logo. Top seam has a very light wear but hasn't split. The bottom seam has slightly heavier wear but, again, hasn't split. The spine is solid, unworn and unsplit, and is fully legible. The back cover has a solid, rich colour with no wear, dirt build or anything, and just a few little laminate creases running down the spineedge. Solid back cover! The inner gatefold is immaculate with no marking, writing, dirt buildup or anything, and just a light crease at the top left and a slight knock at the bottom right at the bottom of the opening. Overall, awesome cover! Inner Sleeve : VG+/EX-

The inner sleeve is looking solid. It has yellowed a little but has no splits or tearing, and the plastic inner is stuck tight and isn't loose. There's a little light creasing and wear around the mouthedge, but overall is looking great! Disc (Visual Grade Only!) : EX

The playing surface has an awesome, crisp shine to it and just has a few very light, faint little scuffs in places. These are only just really noticeable under my desk lamp. I would have graded this NM- but there's two little, light scratches right next to each other on side 1 at the 2 o'clock position just at the deadwax. They look superficial and are unfeelable under the finger, but if this disc were to be played I would guess that they'd produce a light click. Overall though, the disc is awesome!.

The labels are clean, crisp and clear with a rich, red colour and bright silver text! There's just a very little, light, very faint spindlewear around each centrehole and NO whitening. Incredible labels!

All records have been visually graded under a strong, 125W natural light desk lamp.
